ONCE UPON A TIME...
There was a phoenix who was inconspicuous and hardworking. As the other birds were making merry and freely eating the rich bounty of the forest, the phoenix diligently picked up every dropped seed, fruit, and grain, then stored them in a cave. The birds, unwise to the phoenix's actions, mocked him for his greed.
One year there was a terrible drought. With no food to eat, the birds of the forest became weak with hunger. Filled with despair, they became hopeless and feared certain death. But the phoenix, who was by nature generous, opened up the cave to reveal his vast bounty. He shared his food and everyone weathered the drought together.
Grateful and restored, the birds of the forest wanted to repay the phoenix for his kindness. Each bird plucked their most beautiful feather and gifted it to the phoenix. His plumage was transformed, and he became the magnificent phoenix we know today.
Every year on the phoenix’s birthday, the birds would fly over and pay homage to the dazzling phoenix—the king of the birds.
