LONG TIME AGO,
In a rich land far away from human's prying eyes, birds of all feathers gathered to make nests and settled to build families. With plenty to eat and natural beauty everywhere to indulge, they all lived a carefree life, idling from one day to another. Except the Phoenix.
The Phoenix was an inconspicuous bird with a plain coat. Had it not been for his eccentric character, no creatures of the forest would have given him a second glance. While others sang songs and sunbathed, the Phoenix spent his days picking up dropped seeds and grains, collecting food and fruits for his den. Many deemed him greedy and mocked him for his doings.
They were ignorant that when it rains, it pours. One year, the sky burst with downpours and torrents, stripping the fairyland bare. The Phoenix opened his den and shared food with his fellows, even those who were less kind to him before, and saved them all from the imminent death of hunger.
So grateful for the Phoenix's generosity and kindness, every bird of the forest pulled out their proudest, most exquisite feather to make a new coat for the Phoenix. For his beautiful plumage and even more beautiful heart, the Phoenix was crowned the king of the birds.
Every year since then, birds fly from all places to the Phoenix, celebrating his birthday together.
